Preserving the Sparkle: Care Guide

Back to Journal

Your jewelry collection is a compilation of memories, milestones, and artistry. To ensure these pieces last a lifetime—and beyond—proper care is essential.

The Golden Rule

The simplest rule to remember is: "Last on, first off." Put your jewelry on after you've applied makeup, perfume, and hairspray, as chemicals can dull the luster of gold and damage porous stones like pearls and opals.

Cleaning at Home

For most diamond and sapphire jewelry, a gentle soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap is sufficient. Use a soft toothbrush to clean behind the settings where dust accumulates. However, never use ultrasonic cleaners for emeralds, as they can remove the oils used to treat the stone.

Storage

Store your pieces individually. Diamonds are the hardest substance on earth and can scratch other gemstones and metals. Soft pouches or lined jewelry boxes with separate compartments are the best way to keep your treasures safe.

With a little attention, your fine jewelry will continue to shine as brightly as the day you first wore it.
